We’ve launched a new online viral and buzz marketing campaign for Virgin Mobile to support their 3p text messaging campaign. James Kydd, brand director for Virgin Mobile, explains

We are using online viral and buzz marketing as a strategic part of our ‘Idle Thumbs’ marketing campaign in order to broaden awareness of our new 3p text tariff - particularly among the culture-driving, technology-savvy online viral community that DMC can reach.

The campaign features a digital film clip created by Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R as part of the current through-the-line campaign. The new film, entitled ‘Mangina’, includes scenes deemed too risque for television, and features a man tucking his manhood between his legs in a pose made famous in The Silence of The Lambs and, more recently, by Robbie Williams in Comic Relief.

The campaign is being seeded via our online influencer network, as well as being featured on lifestyle web sites. Our online video tracking system will provide real-time accountability of the film’s views and hotlinks in order to quantify the impact the viral activity has on brand awareness.
