DMC ADDS BUZZ TO BAND-SLAYING SNUFF MOVIE

We planned and seeded a new BMG online buzz marketing campaign for rock band The Cooper Temple Clause.
Launched in late August 2003, the latest BMG online buzz marketing campaign we planned and seeded has helped rock band The Cooper Temple Clause (TCTC) reach number 5 in the UK top 10 music charts with their new single ‘Promises, Promises’.
The tongue-in-cheek buzz campaign features the members of TCTC slaying each other in a ’snuff movie’ that promotes the release of the new single. The Flash-based movie created by Metalbaby challenges users to work out which keyboard strokes will initiate 6 death moves that make each TCTC band member kill the others in a variety of literally graphic ways (all dreamt up by the band themselves, during a recent German trip). Users who find all 6 manoeuvres can then enter a prize draw to win signed promotional copies of the new ‘Promises, Promises’ single.
Daniel Ayers, New Media Manager at BMG UK & Ireland, explains:
[TCTC are] probably the most proactive band I’ve worked with, and they’re always looking for interesting ways to introduce their music online, aside from the usual audio and video clips. We’re using DMC’s expertise to help spread the word among online communities, because their experience in the area puts them way ahead of what we could achieve on our own.
