DMC’s eighth Virgin Mobile online viral and buzz marketing campaign extends Virgin Mobile’s celebrity feature clip.
We’re planning, seeding and tracking Virgin Mobile’s eighth online viral and buzz marketing campaign which pre-launches three new TV commercials featuring Missy Elliott and LL Cool J to promote Virgin Mobile’s new airtime ‘Bundles’. This activity extends Virgin Mobile’s well-known, amusing celebrity features that started with the popular Wyclef Jean ads, followed by ads featuring Busta Rhymes then Christina Aguilera.
The new viral campaign¹s funny clips were created by Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R. The first two feature Missy Elliott getting into hot water with her friends - ‘Heimlich’ shows her in a compromising situation with a friend’s father, while ‘Autocue’ sees her accidentally and very publicly insulting a friend at an awards ceremony. The LL Cool J clip ‘Grandma’ shows the rap star in another friend-losing situation that will be revealed when the clip launches online on November 8. The message in the clips is “Who cares if no-one’s talking to you for a while?”, alluding to the fact that you can carry over unused airtime with Virgin Mobile Bundles.
All of the new clips are being launched online via DMC before they are released on TV. They invite viewers to click through to specific web landing pages where visitors can view other Virgin Mobile viral clips - including more celebrity ones - watch out-takes from the making of the films and find out more about the Bundles promotion.
