DMC and Periscope have released a new online buzz marketing campaign for Ubisoft’s ‘Prince of Persia Warrior Within’â„¢

We’ve planned and seeded a new pan-European online buzz marketing campaign for Ubisoft to pre-launch the wider promotion of their video game ‘Prince of Persia Warrior Within’â„¢ that will be released in December. Delphine Dosset, European Senior Brand Manager at Ubisoft said:

Prince of Persia Warrior Within™ will take video gaming to a new level, enabling players to enter a dark underworld and help the Prince to defy his preordained death in a fight for survival against destiny that includes confronting mankind’s greatest fears. We’re using DMC’s online viral and buzz marketing expertise, and Periscope’s web-exclusive material, in a pre-launch buzz campaign that aims to kickstart awareness of the Prince of Persia Warrior Within™ launch beyond our core target audience of gamers, among a wider group of entertainment seeking, highly active online users.

In the forthcoming video game, the Prince’s destiny is in the players’ hands. The buzz campaign turns this situation on its head in a lighthearted and fun way, using a Flash-based microsite created by Periscope. The site asks users to create an online warrior to challenge the Prince. Users can create a challenger with the face of anyone whose image they have available for upload from their computer - their own, their best friend’s, their teacher’s, their boss’s… The twist is that, in this microsite world at least, the users’ destiny is in the Prince’s hands, and no-one can beat the Prince. So the challenger is always despatched in slapstick style in one of four pre-set fight sequences played out in mythical environments, including ‘The Hall of Hell-uh-oh’ and ‘The Slippery Slope’. The incredibly high-quality graphics of the video game are echoed on the microsite, and users can email their friends the fight sequence they have created for a laugh.

Specialist online seeding activity for the buzz campaign has been kickstarted across Europe and the UK via DMC’s online influencer network, in order to maximise awareness of the overall Prince of Persia Warrior Within™ promotion.
